The priority attention of the Department is to provide the optimum health needs of the people in general and particularly to those living in the District and its neighbouring districts. Secondary Health Care is particularly carries out in the district hospitals. The health service in the state is primarily at the government hospitals. There are a few private hospitals/nursing homes to reckon with. Monitoring and maintaining of the health services in the district is done by the CMO, Thoubal through Deputy Commissioner under the guidance of Director of Health Service. National Health Mission is also being taken up in the District besides time to time health care programme done by the State Government.
Thoubal District Hospital:
Thoubal District Hospital is the only Govt. Hospital present in the district of Thoubal which caters to a large number of patients residing in the Thoubal, Kakhcing , Chandel and Tengnoupal districts.

Thoubal District Hospital received the Certificate of Commendation plus a cheque of Rs 3 lakh from Kayakalp Award on 11th February 2016 which is an initiative launched under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, to promote cleanliness and enhance the quality of public health facilities.
